Sound Quality and Audio Performance

Beats Studio Buds Plus use a custom acoustic platform with a two-layer transducer in each earbud. The transducer is designed to provide cleaner bass and low distortion, while the overall tuning delivers a powerful and balanced listening experience.

For everyday listening, the earbuds are suitable for music, podcasts, videos and calls. The in-ear design also creates a physical seal that helps isolate some external sound before ANC is activated.

Active Noise Cancellation

Active Noise Cancelling is one of the main features of Beats Studio Buds Plus. The system uses microphones and processing to reduce unwanted external noise, allowing users to concentrate more on their audio. Beats states that the Studio Buds Plus provide up to 1.6 times more ANC power than the previous-generation Studio Buds under its specified testing conditions.

ANC is useful in environments such as public transport, offices, shopping centres and busy streets. Actual noise reduction depends on the ear-tip seal, surrounding environment and the type of noise present.

Transparency Mode

When you need to hear your surroundings, Transparency mode allows external sound to pass through the earbuds while you continue listening to your audio. This is useful when you need to remain aware of conversations or other environmental sounds without removing the earbuds.

Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos

Beats Studio Buds Plus support Spatial Audio for Dolby Atmos. With compatible content and devices, Spatial Audio creates a more immersive presentation that can make supported music and video content feel more surrounding.

Call Quality and Microphones

The Studio Buds Plus feature upgraded voice-targeting microphones designed to improve call clarity. Each earbud has three microphones, which allows the earbuds to use multiple microphones for calls, ANC and Transparency mode.

Beats combines the microphones with a voice-targeting algorithm to help filter background noise during calls. This makes the earbuds suitable for phone calls and online communication when connected to a compatible smartphone.

Design and Comfort

Each Studio Buds Plus earbud weighs just 5 grams, making them lightweight enough for extended everyday use. Beats includes four silicone ear-tip sizes — XS, S, M and L — so users can choose a size that provides a secure fit and acoustic seal.

The earbuds also feature three acoustic vents designed to improve audio precision while helping relieve pressure inside the ear. This design is intended to improve comfort during longer listening sessions.

Battery Life and Charging

Battery endurance is another major advantage of the Studio Buds Plus. The earbuds provide up to 9 hours of listening time with ANC and Transparency mode turned off. The charging case provides additional charges, bringing total listening time to up to 36 hours.

When ANC or Transparency mode is enabled, battery life drops to up to 6 hours per charge, with up to 24 hours available when combined with the charging case.

The case uses USB-C charging. Beats Fast Fuel technology can provide up to one hour of playback from a five-minute charge when the battery is low.

Water and Sweat Resistance

The Beats Studio Buds Plus earbuds have an IPX4 rating, meaning they are resistant to sweat and water splashes from any direction. This makes them suitable for workouts and everyday activity, but they are not designed to be submerged in water.

Importantly, the charging case is not sweat or water resistant. The earbuds should also be dry before being placed into the charging case or charged. Water resistance can decrease with normal wear over time.

Apple Compatibility

Studio Buds Plus integrate with Apple devices without being limited to Apple’s ecosystem. On compatible Apple devices, users can take advantage of one-touch pairing, hands-free Hey Siri and Find My. Firmware updates and new features can also be delivered automatically under supported conditions.

Android Compatibility

Android users also get a strong feature set. Google Fast Pair simplifies initial pairing, while Audio Switch can automatically transition audio between supported Android, Chromebook and other compatible devices. Google Find My Device can also help locate lost earbuds. Additional customisation and software features are available through the Beats app for Android.

On-Device Controls

Each earbud has a multi-function “b” button. A single press can play or pause audio, two presses skip forward and three presses skip backwards. Pressing and holding can switch between ANC and Transparency mode, while the function can be customised through supported device settings or the Beats app.
