The bezels are quite thick, giving it a less modern look compared to AMOLED-based alternatives. The Smart Band 9 Active includes basic health tracking such as heart rate monitoring, SpO₂ (blood oxygen) measurement, stress tracking, female health tracking, and sleep monitoring (including deep, light, and REM stages). It supports over 50 workout modes, such as walking, cycling, and yoga, and is rated 5 ATM water-resistant, allowing for use during swimming.
However, sensor accuracy is limited. Users and reviewers report that heart rate data can be off by 10–20 BPM, and calorie estimates and SpO₂ readings are often inconsistent. Sleep tracking, on the other hand, is fairly accurate and praised for identifying wake and REM periods well.
The band does not include built-in GPS, relying instead on your smartphone’s GPS (known as connected GPS). This can cause delays or inaccuracies if the phone loses signal or is too far from the band—up to 15–20% deviation in route distance has been observed.
It supports Bluetooth 5.3 BLE and is compatible with both Android (8.0+) and iOS (12.0+) devices via the Mi Fitness app.
